TRANSCRIPT
You're listening to the Flourish Academy podcast and today we are talking about
money. My name is Heather Lahtinen and I'm a photographer, educator and entrepreneur
and I founded the Flourish Academy as a resource for photographers of all levels. We
want to help you pursue your passion on your own terms because we believe there is
room for everyone. In this podcast, we focus on creating breakthroughs with your
mindset to discover the things that are really holding you back in business and
life. Unless you aren't a real human, then I have to assume that you have some
money mindset issues that could be improved and there's no judgment, okay,
so relax. Everyone has them to different degrees. A friend and client of mine asked
me recently where I have been reading or listening to podcasts on,
you know, the work around money mindset. She asked if I took a training class or
did I get specific coaching to help with this? And the reason she's asking is
because she has seen a shift in me over the past few years regarding my approach
to money, meaning it's obvious from the outside that I've changed and that I've made
some improvements. And it's also really obvious when you look at my bank account, it
has been almost a decade since I really started intentionally focusing on my money
mindset. And there are 95 ,296, I mean,
that's approximate, you know, there are that many books, podcasts, courses, YouTube
videos that I've read, listen to consumed regarding money. So it's really difficult
to narrow down, you know, here are the top three authors or courses.
I mean, I'm going to give you a list of a few that stand out to me. They are
Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, Brooke Castillo, Stacy Bayman, Denise Duffield -Thomas,
Herm Mentor, Kendall Summerhawk, I hunted her down, Jen Sincero, James Wedmore,
Richard Dott's and countless others that have influenced my approach to money.
So there's just no way I could say, "Hey, read these few books and you'll be all
set." So it was a decade and 95 ,000 books and courses and here we are. I want to
just note that my background is in mechanical engineering. I also have a business
degree but I worked at a chemical manufacturing facility and then an engineering firm
and engineering is all about optimizing a process and I'm going to tell you why
this matters to you in this context. Optimizing a process is about removing the
inefficiencies in order to have an optimal product, you know, removing the crappy
thoughts in your brain in order to make more money. And my job as an engineer was
to make things more efficient, and it's helpful that I see the world in equations.
I figure out the equation, I solve it, and then I teach it to you in several
different ways so that you are able to understand and implement for yourself. It is
my job to read the 95 ,000 books over 10 years to do all of that heavy lifting in
order to make things easier for you. and it's why I get paid a lot of money to
do it, because I'm good at it. And I think that that's in part due to my
engineering background. So I took everything that I learned over the years and I
condensed it into the formula that worked for me and I know will work for you
inside of my two money courses. One of them is called Empowered. It's four weeks to
building wealth in photography. And the other is called the wealthy photographer.
These are currently only available inside of our Elevate program, but I'm sharing
this with you for two reasons. Number one, if you can find someone that you trust
that has experience and wisdom and made the shift for themselves and has the ability
to condense that information that's easy and fast for you to process, then I
recommend working with that person ASAP. I mean, or you can spend 10 years and read
95 ,000 books. I mean, that's certainly your choice. And number two, if that person
happens to be me, then I have great news because I pulled these two courses out of
the Elevate Portal and made them available on Tuesday, November 26th,
for one day only during our five days of deals sale. That's Thanksgiving week.
It's at 67 % off with lifetime access. And of course I'm going to put the link in
the show notes. And while I did approach this through the lens of photography,
and there is no pun intended there, I think that anyone could benefit from these
courses just because of the money mindset, the philosophies, etc. And how do you
know if you need help with your approach to money? Well, you could look at your
bills, you could look in your bank account and ask yourself if something needs to
be improved. Unless you are over the moon happy with your finances and even then,
I think that you could make improvements and there's probably a worry that needs to
be uncovered. And by the way, this does not mean that you're broke or even
struggling. You can be very happy with your finances. You can be very content and
still want to do better and make more. There is nothing.
Let me think about this. I want to make sure I'm telling the truth. I can't recall
anything devastating. That has ever happened to me with regards to money.
I just knew that it could be improved. I knew as an engineer that I could remove
the inefficiencies in my brain and just do better. In the empowered course that I
created, we cover your default money philosophy versus the conscious one that you
need to create. We talk about goals, both realistic and unrealistic,
which is super fun. We talk about under earning and overspending.
We also talk about creating valuable offers and managing your money with profit
first. Both of these courses have workbooks and worksheets to help you walk through
the process. But in the wealthy photographer, we took an even deeper dive to
understanding how we can increase our net worth, how to make money our friend, which
is more important than you might think. I have a section on morality and money.
It's actually one of the most watched videos in the course. We talk about happiness
and self -sabotage, which is fascinating, mostly because I cannot count the number of
times I have self -sabotaged. Naturally, we talk about budgets and debt, but one of
my favorite videos is where we talk about your capacity to have money.
If you look at your personal savings account, for instance, that number will tell
you your capacity to have. I have a friend that has $2 ,000,
but never more in her savings account. And if she increases it, she finds a way to
spend it. But she also won't let it go lower than that amount, it's really quite
interesting. So we talked about how we can increase our capacity to have more.
For example, could you or would you be able to have 20 ,000 or $50 ,000 just
sitting in a high yield savings account without touching it?
So again, we work on our capacity to have and to hold money. I'm sharing this with
you because money is fun. And making more money is really fun, especially when you
get out of your own way and uncover your own crap. And you're like, oh, that's why
I was holding myself back because I think money is bad or evil that only greedy
people have it. That money is greedy is a really big one that we talked about in
the course. and actually both of the courses. Financial stress is one of the biggest
problems people have. What if you could eliminate it?
Or at least mostly eliminate it because you'll probably find something to worry about
as I have done. But what if you could just focus on other areas of your life and
money wasn't this constant thorn in your side? If you would like the list of books
that I've read, at least most of them, I don't think I have them all listed, then
send me an email. I'm happy to send you that link. But also recognize that it
could take time because it's a journey. It's taken me 10 years of solid focused
work to get to this point. I hope to significantly Reduce that for you in the
trainings that I've created Because it's my job and it's fun. I optimize processes
and I decided to optimize my thoughts on money I hope that you found this useful.
I'll see you in the next episode
